Volker Löffler-von Strünk: In my many years of experience as an ITAM consultant, I have repeatedly realized how crucial the functionality of software asset management (SAM) tools is to the design of an effective SAM management system. Ideally, the design of the system should be determined primarily by the customer’s core business and specific organization. In practice, many customer solutions are based on the tool manufacturer’s specifications, which means that the customer’s specific structure and business processes are not adequately mapped. In the worst case, this can lead to an expensive bad investment. HONICO impresses with its expertise in the SAP environment and its ability to flexibly adapt solutions such as Dynamic License Control (DLC) to the customer’s individual requirements. This fulfills an important objective: The focus is on customer-specific structures and processes and not on the limitations of a tool.
How do you assess the influence of SAM tools such as DLC specifically on the optimization of SAP Eco systems?
Löffler-von Strünk: SAM tools should always support the specific requirements of a company. When working with HONICO and Dynamic License Control, it is noticeable that the “organization before technology” approach is consistently pursued here. DLC enables a comprehensive assessment and management of all SAP-relevant resources, licenses and processes, including in RISE with SAP. This is crucial to ensure compliance and at the same time make the use of SAP licenses efficient.
