Success Story PUMA
Efficient SAP job management at PUMA with BatchMan: time savings and improved understanding between IT and business
Management Summary
PUMA SE, a leading global sporting goods manufacturer from Herzogenaurach, has successfully optimized its SAP job management with BatchMan. HONICO’s seamless integration with SAP and customer-oriented approach played a key role in this decision.
With BatchMan, requirement gaps could be closed and end users gained insight into batch processes. This fostered an improved understanding between IT and business and reduced the need for communication on technical matters. The increase in efficiency enabled the business to work more independently of IT, significantly speeding up troubleshooting and the introduction of new business processes.
As a result, PUMA is planning further rollouts of BatchMan in its subsidiaries worldwide.

Industry: Sporting goods manufacturer
Use Case: Automation of the European end customer business and parts of the B2B customer business in S/4HANA
Advantages: Timesavings, error reduction and a better overview for Business and IT
Produkt: BatchMan
Optimization of SAP job control at PUMA: automation, error minimization and more efficient processes
Before introducing BatchMan, PUMA was already using an SAP S/4HANA system, which is used to process the European end customer business and parts of the business customer business.
Job control was initially carried out using SAP’s standard options with SM36. However, this resulted in delays in troubleshooting, as the SAP standard only contains limited options for the automated sending of status messages and logs. In addition, complex process logic requirements had to be manually converted into technical solutions.
Similar to other areas of SAP system operation, PUMA wanted to bring the responsibility for planning, monitoring and post-processing closer to those system users in the specialist departments who have an understanding of the processes and interrelationships behind the batch jobs.
The job planning product should be able to be integrated into the existing SAP system landscape without additional hardware and software infrastructure.

Decision for BatchMan: Seamless SAP integration and structured implementation
The decisive factor in choosing BatchMan was the seamless integration of the product into an existing SAP system and HONICO’s customer-oriented approach. The implementation of BatchMan was structured in several phases. After a successful trial installation, an inventory was first carried out. The individual module managers were then trained in small groups to enable them to work with BatchMan. The actual changeover from standard job planning to BatchMan then took place step by step in the individual departments.
Successful improvement of requirements and time savings at PUMA with BatchMan Workload Automation
BatchMan was able to close the requirement gaps described above. The implementation always ran smoothly and efficiently. Thanks to the implementation, end users and SAP power users have the opportunity to view the batch processes from their area of responsibility. Technical and content-related issues are therefore separated from each other, both in terms of regular operation and in the event of a malfunction. With BatchMan, communication between business users and IT is now rarely required to clarify questions.
BatchMan makes work easier for the business, which is often no longer dependent on feedback from IT, thus saving working time on both sides. For the same reason, BatchMan also significantly speeds up troubleshooting and the implementation of new business processes in the system. The time required for troubleshooting and finding solutions has been drastically reduced.
