Redesign of the SAP interface implementation whilst changing to a different server platform

Customer environment / Assignment of tasks

• Heterogeneous system landscape with 225 interfaces from the most diverse systems, using different connection technologies
• Missing testing / monitoring for file access
• A vast number of undocumented scripts

The project targets:

• Securing the interface functionality on any hardware and operating system basis
• Increasing operational security and system transparency
• Use of the SAP functions to distribute the job load
• Post-documentation for existing interfaces with the target of making dependencies transparent
• Implementation of a central control and monitoring function for interfaces
• Replacement of polling interfaces (e.g. cyclic querying whether a file exists) using BatchMan file processing. This reduces the number of jobs
• Implementation of BatchMan as a central tool for controlling batch processing should be aimed at in order to replace isolated solutions with an open, standard solution.

Approach to a solution / Implementation

Consequential application of SAP functionalities (function modules) and in-house programs / reports enabled very fast preparation and development of the analysis, derivation of the quantity structure and its following implementation as well as its complete documentation. Due to the application of the HONICO product BatchMan, the number of interface jobs was reduced considerably and isolated solutions used for job monitoring replaced.
